I recently received a 12-hole Infinity ocarina (it's my first one!), and I absolutely love it! However, the book's that I received with the ocarina (zelda vol. 1 and celtic folksongs) have a page at the front that says which number is which note, but it doesn't correlate with the finger/number charts for the 12-hole ocarinas.
For example, the book says a D is 2, when the fingering chart says a D is a 6.
I also noticed that on a 9-hole ocarina, the fingering charts online are correlate with the numbers printed in the book.
I suppose my question is: which numbers are right, and how am I supposed to determine the note in the book? Do I look at the 9-hole fingering chart to figure out the note, write it down, and then play that note on the 12-hole, or do I use the numbering system for the 12-hole and completely disregard what is said in the beginning of the book?
please help me >.<

I was a little confused as well, I use the fingering chart that came with the ocarina, the little booklet.
otherwise you wouldn't have the range to play the songs in the book.
Plus if you go to STL's fingering composer, click on 12 hole in c major, then click on numbering composer, you will find the same fingering and numbering as your little booklet.
I ignored the numbering in the first page of the songbooks. Since you can't play a low G on your ocarina it makes more sense to use the fingering chart where low A is 3 with a dot below it, and your high F is a 1 with a dot above it. So your low D if 6 with a low dot and your high D is just a 6.

Does this help you at all?

Yes! Thank you =) I didn't realize the low G before, but now that I see it, what you're saying makes a lot of sense. *Writes "disregard" all over the front of her book.* Thanks again!

Does this ocarina have a dynamic range?

Yes, it is a dynamic ocarina and can be played expressively.  It isn't as dynamic as the purple clay tenor, but it does have quieter lower notes and louder higher notes.

Thanks, Carboncopy.

I really like the look of the infinity ocarina, and I've been looking for a more dynamic ocarina.

Which is more comfortable to play; the blue/black, or the white?

I don't want this to sound rude, but they're just different colors, no other difference than that

I thought the white looks like it would support your palms better. No offense,  but the "special edition" looks like some one hurled on it. : :-X
