This is the one I got, I love it, Though i did put a bit of clear nail polish over the gold Tri-force, to make sure it didnt get messed up. I think the idea of a black ocarina is neat, I'd buy it just to have it. XD

I always thought the Fairy ocarina was made of wood. But I could be wrong, I had a very small tv. ^_~

The Zelda tenor 12 hole is a great ocarina... tho since it is the zelda tenor, is it slightly off the note of c major?

and for the Fairy ocarina , that would be awesome, it would have to be a different tone tho. not exactly like the ocarina of time.

no, it is right on C, although depending on how you blow it, you can make it a bit off of C major.

sorry for the noobie question... what is the difference between Special Edition and regular of the Zelda tenor -besides the paint job, which is nearly FLAWLESS on the SE from what I have seen!

I believe the only difference is the painting with the fancy chrome band.  The SE and regular Zelda Tenor should share the same playing characteristics.

What about the special edition and the collector edition? Show a different size...

On a personal level, I prefer the Special Edition to the Collector's Edition only because the SE has a chrome band which looks more like the one from the game, and the CE's band is just painted on. The CE is still beautiful, though, and it is hand-painted, so... it just depends on what you personally like better. As far as I know, they are both tenor C ocarinas and would therefore be around the same size; as I haven't purchased the CE I can't vouch for its size being exactly the same as the SE or any possible tone differences.

Well, they have the same range, so that's a good start. They can't be that different if they have the same range and are in the same key. I don't know if 1/2 inch makes any difference or not, unfortunately. I am leaning towards "no", but we'd need someone who has both to tell us the difference. :-\

The collectors edition's surface is a bit flatter in a way and the mouth piece has a slight angle which really adds to the comfort. The collectors edition is much more rounded and more submarine like.

what about Special Edition vs Regular... would you say it's worth the $30 diff between regular and SE?

I'm a big Zelda fan, so I really like the fancier Special Edition with the chrome band.
