If you look up "passacalgia" on wiki,  you find out some interesting things. It's a style of music with Spanish roots (pasa, walk; calle, street). To quote wiki, " It is usually of a serious character and is often, but not always, based on a bass-ostinato and written in triple metre." One of the more recognized examples of this shall we say, style (form?) of music was written by J.S. Bach.

Thought I would share what I found. :)

I want this oc soooo much.
I <3 ocarina and sewing.
Music gives my days light and my heart, peace.

Cool info! Thanks! I'll have to share my thoughts on mine when I get it. I don't have another bass to compare it to though.

I would like to know too! Maybe they need to offer more bass ocarinas!

So I've had my passacaglia for a few days now and I really like it ;) I was worried at first cause its so BIG but I started to adapt quickly. And it's HEAVY! I found myself resting it on my leg and bending over to play lol! Someone should invent a stand holder for heavy ocarinas!

The only thing I wish they did differently was the texture, especially around the mouth piece. I generally like it smooth and I feel like stuff is going to accumulate in the tiny holes of the texture. I know, gross  :P

It plays beautifully! The tone is deep and resonant but not super quiet. The higher notes were a challenge at first (I was getting squeaky) but they just take A LOT of air. If you have troubles with enough air flow on a tenor I wouldn't recommend a bass. I was a little winded after playing a while. The lowest notes take very little breath, the low A surprising too little breath. To get it in tune I was giving the faintest air flow. I feel that's the only note that is really difficult.

Overall I feel it is a great ocarina. I don't have any other basses to compare it to but I do have several ocarinas. The others seem tiny compared to this! Lol It would strengthen your breath control though, you could play a tenor or soprano with ease after this sucker! It has a great sound and my family appreciate its lower tone ;)

I loved the mini review! That's something that I think this forum lacks. Maybe I'll write up a couple when I find the time.

Not sure if this is going to work, but Cris released her overview. Overview Carbon, could update the master post? I'm on a dumb-phone.
